Prologue
 reetings to you,
the reader of my life. My name is Dmitri Ivanovich Vladimirov Skomorochov,
a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism for the past twelve
years. I joined the Society when I was fourteen years old, and have been
active off and on since then. In the SCA, each person is supposed to create an identity, a persona, an alternate person that could have existed in history, based in a time and place of their choice. The restrictions are that the person couldn't have been a real historical figure, and the persona has to be somewhat historically accurate. For people like me, we take them a few steps further. I created my persona, Dmitri from Russia, and then started looking for more. Where he grew up, what his parents were like, how he was raised, and why he was part of the SCA. After I got a basic story underway, I went even further, working out obscure details that my persona would know, places he had been, and people he would have known. Finally, I started to write it all down, a journal of my alternate life, so to speak. That's what you're reading now. This story is meant to be a journal of the life of Dmitri, from his earliest childhood to his current life. The story doesn't have an ending, because I'm still living it, sort of. My persona's future will not be revealed before my life gets there. Dmitri will never go faster or slower then myself. I'm currently 26 years old, and so is Dmitri. That's how the story will always remain. Please, enjoy my (or his) life, and I hope this will encourage people to start thinking more about their lives. I really hope that many of you will try to write them down, as I have. It can be as much or as little as you like; it's your story. Enjoy mine.
